How-To Make Chickpea Flour
Many WFPB recipes call for alternatives to bleached flour which is typically refined, meaning that the nutrient-rich bran and germ of the wheat kernel have been removed, stripping the grain of many of its valuable vitamins and minerals. Chickpea flour has the benefit of a punch of protein with 21grams per cup, and can easily replace bleached white four in most recipes.
Not all of us have access to a grocery stores like Sprouts or Whole Foods, and if a local grocery chain carries alternative flours they are often more expensive in a "specialty food" section. You can of course order it online, easily enough, or you can save yourself the shipping or trip to the store and make your own at home for pennies on the dollar.
What you Need:
Coffee/Spice Grinder
Dried Chickpeas
This could not be easier to make yourself at home. I use a coffee grinder because dried chickpeas are very similar in density to coffee beans. Use the coarse setting first, then switch to the fine setting.
Do not overfill your grinder.
